Join UWA’s Chief Cultural Officer as he shares four intriguing, little-known stories from art history with the events of artist’s lives, how they earn their living and how their work is received by their communities often provide a different inflection to the history of art and can illuminate significant social and political issues.

Throughout the evening, Ted Snell will discuss the work of two artists, a scandal, and a story of art in war – all four of which raise questions about how we respond to art and what this tells us about our society, our culture, our values, attitudes and beliefs.

Professor Ted Snell AM has contributed to the national arts agenda through his role as Chair of the Australian Council of  University Art and Design Schools, Chair of Artbank, Chair of the Asialink Visual Arts Advisory Committee and as a Board member of the National Association for the Visual Arts.
